    Re: Board of Supervisors Tonite?

In all seriousness, does anybody think multiple schools on one site is a good idea?

I don't even think the 5 who voted for that crap think it is. It's all about making a statement that they arent gonna suffer alone. ****ing ridiculous.

After all the fussing, maneuvering, motions and counter motions from this meeting, the only thing the BOS could technically vote for or against was the funding. All the talk of "2 on 1", etc. is simply a request or suggestion and is not binding in any way upon the SB. The SB can now decide what plan is selected going forward with the now approved funding. Tonight's SB meeting should be another doozy.

In my opinion and probably most others, the multiple school on one site is by no means the "best solution", but it is a "doable" one. I believe most people would say "if it has to happen, they would rather have 3 separate schools on 3 neutral sites", but I doubt that will get done simply due to the additional costs involved.

This is just the beginning of the process folks. Tighten your seat belts and hang on. We are still in for a bumpy ride before all is said and done.
......and I thought truth was universal. Silly me......

Why build a complex CAPABLE of housing X students and putting it in one place? How much more would it have cost to build 2 so studends have less of a drive time... Even if you put it in the VERY center of Wise Co. .... I think Making a "North" and "South" or an "East" and "West" would be more viable ... Maybe they voted to go with 2 on 1 site cause Norton said they'd consider jumping in on the fun if they do that.... I don't get the Benefit from having RIVAL schools right next to each other... Kids have your Cell Phones ready for some seriois Rival Fights Next day after school from heated games etc... I hate this idea... I think they got this stupid ass idea by going to Wal-Mart and saying WOAH.. there is a grocery store here.. 2 things .. in one place... HOLY **** I got a Swell Idea. Well ******* you don't ahve a swell idea its ****ing retarded... I think If John I. Burton joins in with 2 schools in one site i'll find somewhere upstate or in Tennessee to Take my 10 month old child. Im all for consolidation but having Rival Schools parking lots walking distance from each other I see no benefit from this and I feel sorry for the Kids who live up in Hollars in Pound back deep in South Fork, or Ignorant Fork (etc) and the Kids down in Exceder(sp?) and beyond in appalachia. I feel for these kids thats a long way to go to school.

I've ranted long enough... can anyone point out a legit benefit to having 2 Rivals 1 Site?

They wont be rivals, they will take class together. As I've mentioned on here before, we now have to much pride in our communities and schools. When this passes, we will have no pride or sense of ownership. You tell me which is worse.

With the way this country is going in terms of income and education gap it's really not that bad of an idea to put your kids in some type of private school. Just my .02 cents.

Talking Re: Board of Supervisors Tonite?

Fred wanted all six High Schools left open and repaired but the school board had already said no to that many times. It's not fair for Appy and Pound to have their schools closed and all other towns to remain open. Closing you school dosen't feel to good right now does it? Now you know what we the people of Appy and Pound went through. J H Rivers done everything he could do to shut us down and keep PV open. Two weeks ago JH and Betty switched back to the other side to let Appy and Pound close as long as PV kept their school. I support Fred and Ronnie for what the done!!!!!
